Default picture tray help

To make my pictures smaller to fit in a post I downloaded Picture Tray. It's telling me that to open the file, windows needs to know what program created it.I've been using a computer for 2months and have no idea what they're talking about.

Also, does anyone know how to take pictures from my Photobucket album and download them to my computer?

Jon, I am no Bill Gates so my answers might not help.

On the Picture Tray question, anytime you open or move a file, the program that is doing it, has to have the address for the file. You usually get the message you are getting . . . .windows needs to know what program created it . . . when you are double clicking a file that is non-executable. IOW it isn't on your computer anywhere (wasn't downloaded for whatever reason) so the program you are using to try and open it does noit have an address for it (it doesn't reside on your hard drive).

On the photobucket deal, I have only used the site a couple of times, but one way to do it (this may not be the best) but you can go to your photobucket account, select the picture you want to download, and just right click the picture, a popup menu will appear, and one of the options will be "Save Picture As" - select that option and it will copy the picture to your default photo editing software. I think you will be given the choice to keep the file name for the picture or rename it but just click OK or Save wnatever the case may be and that's all you do.

I stand to be corrected/clarified/straightened out on all this.

Jon Bell I have 2 photobucket accounts and use them at will just about everyday!!!

Just tell me where you are at [stage] in Photobucket or, if you prefer, I'll walk you thru from the first step.

texas timbers gave correct advice you can click on most any pics online by clicking "save as" [this is computer file]. From there just go to My album on your Pb account and browse button you look up your save as pics and then upload it once that happens you can edit the pic [size, rotate, etc]

man those are some interesting looking trees. Is there any wood to be cut from the middle picture or is that bark? I would love to see the wood that is/was inside that. Have any idea on the species?

plenty of fun, Texas - lol.

Just look for woodshop [search word] in Photobucket or other web image storage sites and there's loads of 'em.

BTW that last pic [post # 12]looks like Central Park, Manhattan, New York.
I've been there a couple of times and both the streetlight lamp posts and trees look very familiar to me.

You can also try PixResizer. It's available as a free download at http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm, and is incredibly easy to use to resize your pics to post here. And....if they are posted here, they'll be here forever for posterity. If you save them at Photobucket or Picasa or some other off-site locale, they could get lost.

Actually, today is the FIRST day since I retired that I'm sort of "looking" for things to do, but went to my list and found a job for today - reorganizing my kitchen cabinets. I've been churning out laser jobs (about 12 since the first of the year), I've earned almost $1K since the first of the year working on-call for a couple of lawyers, and hubby and I installed the rework of a kitchen - new doors and drawer fronts for 53 openings in a kitchen/pantry/laundry room. Now we're making roll-out shelves for the same kitchen, and the lady wants us to do the FOUR bathrooms with the same design of doors--and roll-outs under the cabinets. We're also renovating our "in-house" office with a new counter-top desk with three cabinets - two with file drawers and one with a drawer stack - and a computer hutch. That's for the "inside" and house accounting/office work and for my part-time legal assistance business. The "outside" office is part of the laser shop and where I run the woodworking/laser business. I'm trying to figure out how I ever got all this stuff done while I had a day job---I think all the pundits were right when they said that I'd be busier than ever. Up at o-dark-thirty every morning with hubby.

Geez, I'm tired already!!
