OK, I'm a prety clever guy when it comes to computers but I have a question. When I attach pictures to a post I am forced to keep them under a certain size (referring to memory not physical size). To meet this requirement I have to make my photos much smaller (viewable size) compared to others I have seen on this site. What am I doing wrong?

If you don't want to shrink them in size, compress them. I use this thing, http://www.xat.com/jpegopt/index.html. It is a handy little tool. I compress pictures I send via email/save to disk/put on my website/post on forums...

There is a free version I use, it works fine, the image optimizer.

And another thing about adding pictures for anyone who will read this in the future. I would like to see everyone use the "manage attachments" button. I know there is an option up at the top to "insert image" from another url. If that url goes belly up/out of business/crashes...the pictures are no longer in the thread. I have just inserted images in the past, I am no longer doing that. I will take the time to download them to my hard drive and upload them here so they will stay here.

Inserting a smilie that way is ok, if it vanishes no biggy. But if someone posts a tutorial thread or pictures of their work and the link is down the pictures are not visible. Just my $.02.
