Default Links how to question

Can someone explain to me how you reduce a web address to 1 or 2 words that provide a link to that address? Like you'd put in an email or forum message?

Thanks from a very non-tech old geezer.

You pick which word you want to be a link and highlight with the curser. After you highlight it then click on the little globe with the chain link below it. At that point a box will show up. Delete the http:/ and paste the url to the website your trying to link to and hit ok.

Thanks from a very non-tech old geezer.

Gene, you need to be in advanced mode so you can see all the options on the toolbar above the text window (wherein you type a reply). Click the icon that shows the globe and the link of chain. Just to the left of the link of chain that has the red X through it.

Before you click that globe/link make sure you have already copied the web url address from the window of that page. For example if I wanted to share the NRA Store I would type that (I just did but will again below as the example) and then go over to the other window or tab where I had the store open, and click the address bar, highlight it (however you want click and drag or ctrl+A) and then once highlighted click ctrl+C which copies the address.

Then come back to the text box, highlight the words NRA Store, then click the globe/link icon. A pop up window will appear and put your cursor in it (if it isn't alreay there) and press ctrl+V (paste function for windows don't know MAC command) and the url address for the NRA Store will be put into the pop up. Then select "OK".

That sounds like a lot of "doing", but it isn't. To do it manually, the tags for creating the same thing are super simple. Just typeNRA Store. I boldened the tag brackets for clarity only. Notice the space after the "=" symbol. Do not put a space there I only did so the code would be visible to you. Without that space it would just look like NRA Store.

Someone will hopefully do as good or better job of explaining but use fewer words. I am not good at conciseness. IOW

Man I take too long on the draw. I started typing and walked away from the puter for a while. Just ignore my explanation Gene it will confuse you compared to Dave's excellent tutorial.
