Default I'm an idiot

Can someone tell me how to reduce the size of my pictures so that I may start my album? Thought I'd tried everything.

Me to, Me to Have I posted pictures? Yes a couple of times after racking my brains out. My pictures were also too large. People here will tell you how easy it is, not so easy as paperclip etc, etc.

Now the last time it was so easy, I was pulling my pictures from a different source. I don't know but in time I'll figure it out.

So bottom line I won't be able to help you, but be aware I'm there for moral support

Have you guys got Microsoft "Paint" ? (it would be in "all programs" and "accessories") Just open the file with that, stretch/skew down in size and save as a jpeg. I am sure there are other ways, but that is how I do it.

If I right click on a picture saved to my desktop it gives me the option to "open with" I chose paint.

12 Penny,
I think I have posted this before. I use a freebie program from google called 'Picasa'. If you go to the google page and look around, you will find it there. Once you download it, it will automatically search your harddrive for pictures and import them into the program. Then you can go through and fix the pics like you would with any of the photo software that usually comes with new printers. If you get the program, when you are in the main part called the library, if you look at the bottom of the page there are several buttons you can choose to hit to send pics. One of them is called 'export'. If you choose some pictures to export and hit the button, it will bring up a box that will let you resize the pictures with a slider button. I think I use 640 for my posting pics. It will also ask you where to export them to. I have it export the pics to my desktop. Then when I am going to post pics and hit the 'browse' button, I click on my 'desktop' and have no trouble finding the pictures. I'm sure there are other ways to resize, but this one works well and the program itself is a neat program.

If you have access to Photoshop you can go to the image size button and set the size to something appropriate like 640 pixels on the long dimension then use Save for Web and Devices which will dump all the non image information that gets lumped into the jpeg file when it's made. This stuff will inflate an images file size to the point many sites will refuse uploads even though the pixel dimensions are correct.
I have a folder I labeled upload that I save them to so I don't overwrite the original when I slim down the file.

Here's an easy fix. Follow the link at the bottom to the Microsoft Powertoys site. Download and install the Image Resizer. Once it's installed all you have to do is right click on the file and pick 'Resize Image'. It will copy the file (so you still have the original) and make it smaller.
