Default How to post photos.

I can't do a better job of describing how to do it than did Nancy, so with her permission I will copy and paste it here for anyone having trouble posting pictures and/or placing text around the picture as opposed to just above it.

I would reiterrate what most sites advise. It is not a good idea to post pictures using other sites. Upload your picture to this site as described below.

Go to "Manage Attachments", browse your computer for the picture you want to upload, upload the picture.

Then come back into the composing screen, click on the paperclip icon at the top, and insert the picture(s). You'll get a line that reads ATTACH]962[/ATTACH with brackets at the ends. Then you can type before the picture,

Name: NancyLairdPen.jpg
Views: 781
Size: 55.2 KB beside the picture,

or below the picture to put in your description.

There is a tutorial available for posting pictures on any forum that uses vBulletin (as this one does) here: http://workingwoods.com/workingwoods...20on%20SMC.htm

This was written by a former member of Sawmill Creek, then changed for the Family Woodworking family, but the basics work here too.

As I said earlier, if you are trying to post pictures from an off-site storage, you usually have to click on a URL to get to them, and the pictures will disappear if and when that site goes down or if you decide to remove the pictures from Photobucket. Using this method, the pictures will ALWAYS be here (but they do use bandwidth).

Also, remember that you can always preview your post and see how it looks and reads before you click the "submit reply" button.

(By the way, I didn't make that particular pen in the picture above. I received it in a pen swap on another site.)

Nancy

I forgot you had to sign in to see the attachments. I'll try to repost it with static images. Thanks for the reminder.

I've finally figured out how to upload. The process involves the reduction of pixels for any given pictures. Your camera should have a menu option to reduce the pixels. It must be 1.5 pixels or below that in order to achieve the 200 kb for the upload. Otherwise, you will have to choose xat.com to compress the pictures to a manageable size. It worked for me.

I'm surprised nobody has made a video for this. Hope this helps.

Cool video Tim, "How to" videos for site instructions is a good idea. This is one of the easiest forums I have ever used, but some people new to forums for example can benefit from stuff like this.
