Email Change

I recently changed email providers and went to change my email address in my CP Account. I entered all the correct information that I was asked to do but nothing! When I clicked the Save Changes icon or something similar nothing happened. I've been successfully changing email addresses all day today except here so I don't think it's on my end. Suggestions?

What is a "CP Account?" Cannot help if I do not know what you are writing about.

see the black toolbar at the top?

It reads: Home, User CP, Active Topics, etc....
User CP stands for User Control Panel.

I assume you went to the User CP and clicked on Settings and Options, email etc. You must enter your new password... 10 characters, including a Capital letter, a number and a symbol, to be able to change your email.

Click save changes and that should do it....

The answer to your question will only be as detailed and specific as the question is detailed and specfic. Good questions also include a sketch or a photo

Click on User CP
At the column to the left at the top click on Edit your Details.
Then a menu will come up where you can click on Change your email and password and follow the instructions.

Now you really have me puzzled. Nothing like that at the top of my screen.

The closest thing to it is a brown bar that has "Home, Forums, Active Topics -------------etc."
I am using Firefox. Switched to Internet Explorer and get the same thing.

I think I found what you are writing about. It is in a white area with with the Welcome message and is on far right next to Logout. Had never paid any attention to this.

That's exactly what I did but when I click on Save Change nothing happens, the page doesn't update.

Tried this method and the same thing happens. When I click on Save Change the page doesn't update. My Password has numbers, capital letters, and a symbol unless "!" isn't considered a symbol.

It allows me to "X" out the current email address and to also load my new address. After I've done that and I click "Save Change" the page does nothing but sit there. There isn't any notice that the change has been made. It's almost like the "Save Change" part isn't working. When I leave the site and come back the email address that shows is still the one I want to get rid of.

User CP

If you do what Steve suggested and click on Edit My Details here's what it says:
Please click the button below to edit your email address and password. Any changes you've made on this page will not be saved.

If you click on Settings and Options> Edit email and password, you must enter your current password to make any changes or to continue: Once you enter your new email and reenter it to confirm, it will say Save Changes.

Is this the place where nothing further happens? If so, there may be an error in your password or the email in incorrect. It has to be that simple OR the site has a problem....

The answer to your question will only be as detailed and specific as the question is detailed and specfic. Good questions also include a sketch or a photo

woodnthings, yes I have done everything you suggested. I'm not sure how the email can be incorrect or a problem with my password as here I am logged in an posting. I do agree with everything you said after the word OR though.

Using the steps in post #4 I just changed my password. I think probably "symbols" means the symbols on the numbered keys.

I'll try changing my password and see if that helps let me change the email address. As I stated before my current password does have numbers, letters, capitalized letters and symbols,

I give up!! I've tried every suggested method multiple times and none worked. I've changed my password and that didn't help. I logged out and back in and that didn't help either. I even tried switching from Internet Explorer to Microsoft Edge to make the email change and got the exact same results.

OK, I can change my password but I can't figure out how to change the email either. I will flag this issue and see if someone can get you an answer.

You probably have to have a phone conversation with ADMIN to work through this. You have followed all the rules so far, so if 'its not something simple like an email ending in .org, or net or .com something like that or there are not 10 characters in the password or there's a comma instead of a period ... they should be able to help you.

If not, the site's software sucks. Then they wonder why there are so few members.... go figure.
If you can't log in or receive email why bother joining?

There is probably a way of changing the email, I'm just not good with computers. They didn't have much of a choice making the changes, some outside entity was hacking into member accounts posting objectionable material in the members name. You would have never known who was posting what if they hadn't stepped up security. We just need to have patience and let them work out the bugs.

I think there is a bug that makes you change your password at the same time when you change you email address.

Just send me a PM and I will change your email address for you.
