Default A modification was made to a tool

This is the answer to the thread in General Woodworking.
The saw was modified to cut the bottom of siding boards 3/4" up from the concrete slab because the moisture was wicking up through the end grain. The ends were sealed and the caulked after removing the waste.
The base was removed and replaced with a set of blocks and a skid plate to cut just through the siding, but not any further. The height off the slab was adjusted by the thickness of the plate. It worked Great, but now I have to reassemble the saw? bill

That's a pretty neat idea Bill. I figured with the two "guides" on it that it was some sort of "undercut saw". How did you fasten the board to the side of the saw?

Default The old Hot Glue gun

I haven't removed it yet but it should just pop off. Reassembling the saw base and guard will be a little more difficult.
The thin plywood in the blade cover popped off in the cutting process so I just used it as a skid to finish the cut. The handsaw was "kicked" forward by a firm boot to break the final 1/32" that didn't get cut by the saw. Necessity is the mother of invention. bill
