What neat stuff do you have hangin' around you shop? Here's a few pics of some tools on my walls. I know a few of you guys have been posting pics of older planes and such.

Way cool Mike. I have a few like that on my wall as well. In the second picture, what is the plane used for?

Much better organized than mine. But I have kind of given up on organizing where I am now. LOML has approved the shed for the workshop, or more correctly, insisted so she gets a garage stall... So a shed project is in the planning. Step #1. Research waivers to the size limit the HOA has granted. They say the limit is 12x10, but there is an outbuilding (greenhouse) about a block away, visible from the main street that is at least 15x25. All I want is a 12x16 gambrel barn with a loft.

Aside from the standard assortment of tools, I have a Snap On Tools 75th anniversary wall clock, A Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville "It's 5:00 Somewhere" metal sign, and Beer hazmat sign.

cool planes, Mike....I like the planks you covered your walls with, also.

However, 2008's Miss Makita Briana Baker definately captures my attention, too. I'll be over at Cabinetman's, if you you guys need me. I think he needs some help lifting some sheet goods or something lame....

It's kinda funny Mike when I looked at your pictures, those are the kinda primitive tools I use daily . I see an old Stanley 24" four way folding stick rule, got one on my desk right now because it was in my pocket when I came in from the shop last night. Of course the leather barber strop, use them several times a week. Also the old Stanley Bailey 28 (? just a guess) transitional plane and the solid wood sash plane. I have stuff like 2 man bucking saws hanging on my wall, that is where those misery whips will stay

I don't have a pic of it, but I hung my side panel off of my crotch rocket on the wall, full of road rash. Reminds me of how dumb I was, but also it reminds me of how much fun that bike was.

Handy,
That plane in the second pic is for planing convex or concave radii. When you turn the knob, the little pawl gears on the sides change the shape of the bottom to match the curve. Most of these I bought at flea markets. When the kids were little we went camping a lot and it seemed there was always a flea market nearby. I have a stanley 45 in the box with all the cutters and fences, etc. That one I actually bought at a local antique store years ago. Most of these would probably function fine if I took the time to tune them up. Maybe someday, but for now, I just like looking at them. Smitty, I have a posture of a fine young blondy laying next to a Norton motorcycle in a school girl outfit. Just in case you feel like stopping by to help me organize my nail shelf or something.

Ok As I have said in other post my shop is full of scraps of wood and juck on top of junk. No I am not real proud of the condition it is in, but it is what it is. Here is one shot of a wall in my shop. To the left is a shelf unit I made to hold all the international coffee can my dad gave me. Each and every can is full of nails and screws from short to long. I think it holds 135 cans on the shelf unit. On the wall the most of the tools came from my grandfather. Most of the walls in my shop are covered in something. Old tools, pulley's, Grinding disk, and old saw blades. What can I say, I am a pack rat.

Handy,
You got some cool stuff hanging around there. I like all the coffee cans. There are literally millions of guys whos wife won't let them own any tools that would be tickled pink to sneak out and hang out in any of our shops for the day, even if it means getting there a$$ beat when they get home. My grandpa used to have an excavating business and most of his sons worked for him. My cousin and I used to hang out at the big garage that they used to use to maintain the big trucks and dozers, etc. When nobody was around on the weekends, we would sneak in and tie a creeper with about ten feet of rope to the back of the riding lawnmower and takes turns pulling each other around on it inside the building. I still have a teeny brass hammer I found on the carry all trailer that someone had jammed into a hole to hold a marker flag on. I asked my uncle if I could have it and he said sure. Good memories, fun times,
Mike Hawkins

Thanks Mike I think there is some cool stuff in the old shop to, I just wish it was as nice of a place as some of the shops we have all seen and drooled over. I have quite of few big shop tools buried under piles of scrap wood. I am working on getting it cleaned out so I can add a 16 x 12 room on the front. When it gets built I am knocking out a wall to made one big 16 x 22 room to set my table saw up in. my 20x40 shop isnt anything to brag about exept it is payed for. Thanks again. Handy
