Scuba diving is something else that I do as well. A hobby twice as expensive as wood working. Fun non the less.

Hi Nailgunner

I can relate to the scuba, and the motorcycle. My wife and I took a NAUI course many years ago, but lack of time, huge prep time, and cost factors, stopped us from pursuing it. We do snorkling whenever we can, on our tropical vacations. I used to have motorcycles[again, many years ago, ok, many more years ago], and I am thinking about getting another one, or an ATV, because there are so many inviting roads and logging trails up here, that I really want to get out and explore.

It's all about enjoying where you are, and what you're doing.

Keep having fun.

Yea you should have taken pictures. I sawed one up last summer too. I got some pretty wood, but wrecked a few chains and bandsaw blades. I have another to mill...it is soaking in a pond, this one will be cleaner (less rocks ). I sold most of mine for gun stocks, kept a little for "whatever" .I even added a page to my site about stump sawing.

Daryl;

I am disappointed in you. You live in an area that is chock full of little lakes that are full of lovely little trout. You should get out there and get some of those little beauties. I am right on with you, with regard to the rv-ing. We live in a phenominal part of the world for doing that kind of thing. Sounds like you're having fun, anyhow, and that's what matters. If you ever get a chance to get over this way, I'll show you how to get to some sweet little lakes over here.

Best Regards:

Gerry

Guitar playing , Amp designing and building , Homebrew , Longboarding and Angling . Not in any particular order or combination , but I like to combine as many as possible . ....And another thing ... if I may , I've been a stay at home Dad for the last 11 years . Yeah ... the cooking , damage control of all sorts , you name it . Life is full . Can't wait to get that surfboard wet .

..... And JPW23 , That Strompizza got me salivating ... Damn , my rapidly spreading forehead broke out in a sweat just eyeing it up !
Cruel and unusual punishment ....YUM!!!!

OK, here goes for the current list. There is no rhyme or reason:
wood,
home repair,
alpine ski racing (shop doubles as a wax room),
nordic skate skiing,
short stint at nordic ski jumping,
snare drummer in bagpipe band,
water skiing,
fishing,
poker nights

Default Other hobbies

If I can tear myself away from the workshop or the latest episode of the New Yankee Workshop, I will be found in the woods hunting, or on a trout stream.

I also work with and on computers for the mundane day job that is needed to pay the bills and support my woodworking habit.

I've had quite a few hobbies over the years but right now the only one I am active in is internet forums and I guess that is a borderline hobby/addiction.

I think if the good Lord gives me enough years I want to get back into scuba diving. I haven't been wet in over 3 years. I also like to build furniture but that has sort of moved beyond a hobby once i can focus on it again.
I also love to bang on the drums. I have been doing that a little lately again and even got suckered into a band for a little while but just did not have the time they wanted to for me to devote.

I guess I don't have a actual hobby right now. That's sort of depresing. Maybe I should take up needlepoint or sumptin.

I wouldn't wory too much "TT" it looks to me like you're pretty busy anyway. I didn't add the forums as a hobby of mine, but I guess it would have to be 'cause I sure enjoy it. Mybe I would have to go along with your assessment that it's an addiction.

Those pictures are real good lampguy. When they make you want to crawl inside like that then you have really moved beyond hobby level. I am quite certain I can hear the rushing of water and the rustling of leaves.

Woodworking is my main hobby but I also enjoy brewing beer. I have a dedicated fridge in my basement that holds up to three kegs of my beer at any given time. It has three nice tap handles on the front with a stainless steel drip tray. It is great for parties and poker night! One of these days I'm going to turn some really awesome laminated wood tap handles for my fridge.

I also enjoy flying power kites. I only get to do it when I go on vacation to somewhere with a beach but it is a lot of fun. After my last trip to Mexico I bought a 12' wide power kite that will lift a full grown man right off the ground. I haven't had the opportunity to fly it yet but I will on my next vacation.

Did you use a long exposure to get that look on the water or was it just running that fast?

Yes Ken,

I believe these were somewhere around 1 second shutter speeds. Very calm cloudy day, with the camera on a tripod. Also used the camera's timer for shutter release.

Thanks,

Ron
