Default A Thank You To Our Vets

I would like to say thank you to all of our Vets who have served, are serving, and to remember those who gave their lives for us.

Again Too all of our veterans who have served before, with, and after me, I say thank you.

To those who say thank you to us vets, to those who think a thank you, to those who pray for our military, and even to those who spray slures, I say you are welcome. I gladly served for you all and would do it all again. I thought I would share a speech my son wrote for school.

"Honoring Our Veterans"

I am ashamed to call myself American. America disgusts me, at how she treats her veterans. She calls them baby killers, spits the vile of her throat upon them, and strolls over them as if they were dirt. Does she hate them, or has she simply forgotten them? Forgotten that they have protected our borders, safe guarded our land, and defeated her enemies. Has she completely forgotten; they won her freedom?

Why does America spit upon her soldiers? They left knowing they may not return, yet fought valiantly until the job was done. They have seen the horror of war, so we wouldn't have to. They've felt the anguish of seeing friends perish, all for us. We owe the a debt of honor. We should honor their sacrifices in a way that is not obligation, but rather heart felt gratitude.

Why don't we honor our veterans? Is it too hard? Are we not capable of tying a knot, attaching a yellow ribbon to a tree? Are we to lazy to say thanks to a soldier or to hang a flag on the side of our homes? We need to send our soldiers care packages, filled with candy, soap, books, coffee, and letters expressing how much we care, basic needs. We need to thank veterans for their effort, time, energy, and blood. It's easy to do, yet it's more than words can express.

Prove to yourself, our men in uniform, our nation, and to the world that you hold our soldiers and veterans in high esteem. Prove that our support will never waver or become weakened, regardless of any political garbage. We need to show our utmost support not only on Veterans Day, but we need to express it everyday.

Joseph Messier

I was so proud of my sons writing. After he learned where to pause and the use of infliction, he made me cry. Just the thoughts of a 16 year old young man.

That is a wonderful speech. Your son is a gifted writer.

That is a good example of the joys of having children. They give you so much to be proud of. Yesterday, my eight grade daughter played Taps for a school assembly honoring veterans. The school invited parents, siblings, teachers and other family members in the military to attend the school assembly in uniform. I had the pleasure of hearing her practice all weekend, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I second your "Thank you" to all who served and are serving in our military.
