Thumbs up Tell us your Thanksgiving Story!

My Thanksgiving Story: My Grandparents came over to our house while I was working in the shop on one of my projects. Grandpa comes in the shop to admire my work and give me some advise (he built his church 54 years ago) on how to put the legs on the cabinet I'm building. I gladly took his advise and continued showing him what I was doing; then the question came.....He asked me: "what tool do you need that you don't have", and I told him about the bandsaw that we were looking to get. We kept on working, then later at the dinner table he told me that he would buy the bansaw for me! Oh boy was I a Thankful Grandson, thanks Grandpa!!!

Tell us your story!

Well, I could tell you all about my day spent with my dysfunctional in-laws, but I just don't think it would top Steve's story. He really had something to be thankful for! By the way Steve, could you tell your Grandfather that I'm in the market for a band saw too?

Steve,

Did you ever decide which bandsaw you are going to buy? I am curious to know because I am planning on buying one soon too.

Yup, I'm gonna buy, I mean, My grandpa's gonna buy me the Craftsman 10". I would have posted a link except that sears is "working" on the website. It goes for $159 and it got great reviews. I don't really need a big saw in my shop so i'm really happy about the craftsman. In fact, I should be leaving to get it in half-an-hour!

I'l tell you how it works later today if I have gotten it and tested it by then (I'm working on a video project right now).

Steve

Steve that's great! Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your story with us.

Here's mine. We all spent the day at my mom and dads. "We" meaning 25 (mom just did the final tally) of our immediate family. We all agreed it was the best Thanksgiving ever. We have much to be thankful for and most of us here in the US don't even realize how blessed we are. I know I take many things for granted everyday and it's good to stop and realize just how good we have it and give thanks to our Lord.

Hope everyone else also had a great day as well. If you had a dry roof and warm room and a plate of good food then you were certainly blessed whether you realize it or not.

God bless the USA in spite of our faults, sins, and forgetfulness.

Well, I got my saw today, and used it, whew is it a a sweet piece of machinary!
I am thoroughly impressed with craftsmans 10" Band saw!
We got it at sears on sale, band saw($159), an extra blade/band($15) , a 2 year warranty($20). It all came out to $163!

I would recommend it to anyone who needs a 10" band saw, it came with a 1/4 blade on it already. Assembly was quick (15min.)
It went through pine like a hot knife through butter, oak almost just as easy, 2X4 the blade started to sway.

I don't have the ball bearings right against the blade, should I make them right against the blade?
I have never had a band saw before so please feel free to give me advise on everything about!

Well, I didn't get any great new tools but did have two great Thanksgivings. The first we had for my daughter and her husband who were down from Ft, Lewis, Washington. Then the family dinner at my sisters place. We had 17 at the first dinner and 34 at the family dinner so I have alot to be thankful for.
I hope that everyone else was as blessed to get to spend time with loved ones.

Hey Steve: Litlhof here in East Tenessee. I hope you enjoy that new saw, I have enjoyed my Craftsman 12" saw for some time. Sears gave you an extra bargain if $159.00 + $20.00+$15.00 added up to $163.00, I'd say. Anyhow we also had a blessed day with our children and grandchildren, thank the LORD.
Best regards, Walt Rollison.

$163 was the sale price, 159+20+15 were the original prices
