Terry is the comic relief for the forum. I heard that Terry's sister is related to Larry the Cable Guy.

Red, my grand ole gal that was half the reason I started this thread is hangin on for dear life. I don't know how she is alive.

Ever since I have had her she chases me down the road when I leave the house, until I accelerate past about 30MPH (her top speed) or she pants out. Yesterday for some reason or not, she made an abrupt turn right in front of my truck.

When I say I ran her over, I mean I ran her plumb over. I heard it like slow motion; her being rolled and pummeled underneath the truck carriage, and then the back right tire came up off the ground as it rolled right over her.

I can't describe the feeling. I have run over dogs before a couple of times and it sukked. But this was MY baby. I looked in the rear view as I was screeching to a halt and she was doing those fast spins in the middle of the road, screaming like a human on a torture rack not yelping like I have heard other dogs yelp in pain. These were screams of sheer terror and it was hard to take.

I figured her back was broke among other things. I backed up, grabbed my pistol from beneath the seat and jacked a round in and with a lump in my throat I said out loud without even thnking "I love you red." I aimed the gun and was timing her turns and was just about to pull the trigger when to my amazement she quit spinning and her screaming dropped yelps. very painful harsh ones but she was not longer in unbearable agony, at least I thought not.

I de-cocked the trigger and was walking over the the truck to put the pistol back up, and if I was amazed to see her quit spinning around, I was utterly astonished to see her jump up in the truck! She was bleeding from several places including the mouth and was intermittently peeing everywhere, but she was able to get into the truck by herself. You could've knocked me over with a feather.

Thankfully, I was driving the little F150 and not my F350. She would have been DOA if I'd hit her with that. She crawled up into a tight ball and was trembling like she was hypothermic. She was still yelping a little but she seemed to be taking it all in what had just happened and had processed the info enough to gain her wits back.

I drove her back to the house and she did not want to get out of the truck. I wasn't going to make her and didn't want to pick her up. I made that mistake with a dying dog once. My moms poodle that had got run over right in front of us. Right as I reached to pick her up my dad said "No son!" but it was too late. She clamped onto my hand and wouldn't let go. It hurt like all hades. I didn't want to make that mistake with red.

So as I about to get into another vehicle to make the mail run, she gingerly got out of the truck. I stayed with her a few minutes and told my son to watch her. When I got back from the mail run, she was standing out in one of the cattle ponds neck deep getting a boyancy effect. She did that all night last night because she could not lay down. She was only finally able to lay down about two hours ago after we gave her the medicine the vet gave us. She is now finally lying down and alseep on the soft bed I made her. Built it out of 3 layers of R-19 batt insulation and covered that with a blanket. My wife will not leave her side.

Last night I could not sleep well because we couldn't keep her home and I didn't pen her because the only relief she was getting was when she would wade in the pools. I dug a nice pool for her and filled it with water but she didn't like it for some reason. I cut through the phone line to the shop and just laughed because I didn't care. I hoped the coyotes or hogs wouldn't get her. They didn't. The vet said she might still die but he thinks not. I sure hope not. I have gotten pretty attached to her over the years. Say a word for red if you think about it tonight.

Sorry to hear news like that. One of those unfortunate circumstances. Hope you both hang in there. I've got both my German Shepherds praying for her.

My baby with the sprinkler was bottle fed since she was 2 days old and raised with my other Chihuahua's She has no idea that she is not a Chihauhua and that she weighs 70+ lbs. She is very much a lap dog.

Names in order Checkers, Chocolate Chip, Ginger Snap, Billy Bob (Boob), Bandit Pugsly. The kids named the dogs incase you didn't guess that.

About 90 lbs of brute force. 1/2 German Sheppard and 1/2 Katahoula Leopard Dog. Great guard dog, even better companion. Glad she's on my side.

Red fought hard, but she didn't make it. Had to bury my friend yesterday.

We found her right on the other side of our fence line pointing in the direction of coming home. She almost made it. I'm sure she was in no condition to crawl through the fence like she used to do so effortlessly, so she just laid down and died. She looked peaceful. Sounds like a cliché I know but she really did.

We're gonna plant a tree over her grave. Any suggestions on what species? We can't decide.

The Rainbow Bridge
inspired by a Norse legend

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

Might add they act like kids too way they wrestle around just before bed time. They sure bring alot of laughter to us youd think they were both going on one. They always like to go for ride in the truck or car, when they can, provided were not going to be long in the store. I use to have Black Labs for majority of my life but when my last one passed away year ago last december I wanted something different so went with the Springer had gotten him bout year before the lab passed away and wow was that a dramatic time the Springer was like he lost his best friend just moped around so decided to get the shtzu as my daughter had one her at home when I first got the Springer and they were good together to, so figured it be like getting him a new bud to play with and turned out to be very good move. oh wow didnt realize the Spitz was in that picture she passed away in october of this past year, she was a good watch dog barked at everything that went by if it made noise.

Thanks cabinetman. Before she died I told Red your Shepards were praying for her and you won't believe what she said:

"Silly Humans. We don't have to "pray" like you do. We have an open line of communication with God constantly we talk to Him all the time. Mostly complaining about y'all. Why do you think he had Adam name us 'D ... O ... G?' Just look it is God in reverse because He gave us all the qualities you fallen sinners don't have. Tell your cabinetman buddy his Shepards got a good laugh behind his back when he said that."

Wow TT, reading that was sort of a punch in the gut.. I haven't posted pics of my critters, or many of LOML because I am pretty private with my family... And I know both of our critters are getting on in years not likely to make it more than about 4 or 5 more years... But I just can't imagine losing my animals... They bring so much joy to our lives... My dog was with me through a very bad lead up to, and through the divorce with my ex, he was DEFINATELY an instrument God used to get me through...

This is our shop cat Kiya
Here she is fearlessly dominating the air compressor.
show-us-your-pets-shop-cat.jpg
Her favorite spot to hang out is on the shop vac. Her favorite tool is the palm sander.
If not for the danger of spinning bits and blades, noise, and dust she would be welcome to hang out to her hearts content. Anyone know where I can find kitty PPE? Ear plugs, safety glasses, etc...

Hey, this is cool. I realize that this is an old thread, but I’d like show my dog.
The black dog passed away last year at this time, but there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of her. The kids named her happy after one of the TV dogs they were watching at the time. We did not think that we wanted another dog, but last January a friend gave us a beagle and the dog was so hyper that we decided to get a second dog.
My wife loves wolves and has too many wolf knickknacks too count, so when we went to the pound to get a dog, my wife immediately fell in love with this coyote looking dog. It was sick with phenomena when we got her and I didn’t think she was going to make it through the night. It took almost 3 months of antibiotics to cure her, but she turned out to be a great dog. She watches everybody like a hawk and does not bark. She was already house broken and herds the grandson to keep him close to the house.

Well, I don't have a cat or dog, I am stuck with a

Twenty years later, she is holding up pretty good.

Default I have 2

first is our black Bombay cat named Salem.

Next is our Schnauzer named Sherlock.

and the best thing is that they love to play together.
Salem's nickname is Mike Tyson, he likes to hit Sherlock on the snout with his paws and when he's done fighting he bites an ear.
