Question posting a pic in a message

Need some help on this folks. When you post a new thread and want to insert a pic, it appears you need a "url". Apparently, the pic needs to be posted elsewhere to be picked up by this site. Can anyone give me some help on where to put the pic to get in into a message???
Thanks in advance.

Default Hit the 'paperclip' icon.

It is an 'attachment' icon. Hit it and a browser window will appear. After you select the files, hit the "upload" button. After it uploads, hit the 'close' button.
