I check out other members websites when I have a chance, I am easily sidetracked. I have my own website and encourage anyone with 5 minutes to check it out, that is about all it takes . My motivation for starting this thread was for feedback on each others sites and recommendations on ones we might have missed. Here is one I recommend and really dig, http://www.woodworkstuff.net/ , Joe Lyddon's site. I have not had a chance to soak up all the info there, but it is bookmarked and I will check back when time permits. Pretty neat, I can't believe I missed it for so long. If a member likes anothers site, bring it to the groups attention, we might have overlooked it.

As a sidenote, as of today 7/18/07 Joe is still a junior member. (No offense Joe, I mean this in all respect, but I like to give a guy heck when I can) I am probably using wood from mature trees that were saplings when he was a sapling .

What a nice chap. what struck a chord was the fact that he learned from his father at a very young age. I regard it as very important that we pass on skills etc to our children, particularly boys. Here in the UK we are suffering from an army of undisciplined 'yobs' brought up in one parent families.

The state makes it more profitable to have children out of wedlock so the youngsters just live together so get two single allowances. Now moves to change inheritance laws etc so that umarried partners have as many privileges as marrieds. Trouble is that we have families of four with a different father for each, they can get far more in welfare than they could earn.

Known as the underclass.

Not just UK. My wife and I work with the deaf here in California. One family has 5 (five) kids 4 (four) deaf too and from the money they get for medical and everything else they clearly CAN'T work and make the same amount.

Sorry don't mean to hijack this thread!!!! Just felt like venting.

Any way please share more WW sites !!! That one was great.

Hi Johnep... My Grandfather came from London and was part of several "Joe Lyddons" in the family... somewhere, I have a pic of 5 of us... Me, My father, his father, and two from England!

That's about all I know about the UK and the Lyddon family!

Sounds like you're doing a very worthwhile thing helping those that really need it. Good for you!

I just started mine. I"m trying to dig up pics and get them added, just having trouble finding the time. I want to use it as an online portfolio more than anything.

I was on a budget and had to make it myself, and its still in the works, so keep that in mind.

Hey BULLHART, your site does not require any apologies. Looks professionally done to me.
I was fortunate enough to find a web head with a need for things wooden. He created my site and maintains it for me. I just work in the little things he asks for. Check me out at www.crookedlittletree.com

I'm glad to see that so many people on here have websites. We get most of our customers from our website. A lot of people underestimate the power of the web, we were told that the website wouldn't get us any business. It's good to send potential customers there to see what the past projects look like.

Default new guy

Hello woodfellows! I'm new to the sight, nice site BTW, and would like to introduce myself and my means. Name is Rod Holmgren, my website is http://www.s4sindustries.com that I opened in 1997. I built houses, start to finish, for most of my life and really enjoyed the finish carpentry best. I often couldn't get what I wanted to do the job, livin' in the sticks in MN, so had to make it. Eventually specialized in trim carpentry as I got older and tired of climbin' ladders. When the internet thing got hot in the 90's I thought WTH, I had a lot of ideas about interior woodwork and it has grown since. Hope you like what you see and all suggestions are most welcome. Now, I gotta look around here some more, thanks, Rod.

Joe, checked UK electoral role and did not pick up a single Lyddon, dozens of Lydons so perhaps an extra 'd' got added in america.

Quite a few lydons in counties south of London so you may have a few relatives there.
regards,
johnep

Nope... It's Lyddon...

Seems like the last time I googled for it, I saw things Lyddon Hall... a Law building, school, or something...

What is the "electoral role"? A roster of everyone there?!
If so, must be pretty large! :) :D

Thank you for looking...
