Default Meet us at the Air Show

The annual Ft. Worth Alliance Air Show is this coming weekend October 11th and 12th. at Alliance Airport.

We are meeting some woodworkers and turners along the way to deliver wood, and one may meet us at the show.

Any members who meet us at the air show will get free flame box elder. If you are going to be there tell us if you are a turner or woodworker and we'll bring enough for a woodworking project or a turning.

Air Show Details

The bad news is that the Blue Angels won't be there this year, so they reached into the bottom of the barrel and pulled out the second rate US demonstration team know as the Thunderflops.

You fellas and gals in the Houston area have an air show coming up the 25th of this month and there is always a good WWII aircraft static display there, but I don't think the Texas Raiders will be there this year.

The Birds ain't really bad at all. They just can't hang with Naval aviators. Air Force fly boys are in the top 5 echelon though.

Okay in order of expertise, the world's best blue collar aviators IMO are:

Rotary Wing
U.S. Coast Guard
U.S. Navy
U.S. Marine Corps
U.S. Air Force (except the Jolly Green pilots they are tied for first with those guys at the top who hover in thunderstorms to pluck navy pilots out of the pond)
U.S. Army

Fixed Wing
U.S. Navy
U.S. Air Force (especially Warthog jockeys)
U.S. Marine Corps
U.S. Coast Guard
U.S. Army (not allowed to have fixed wing combat aircraft but have scouts and logisitcs aircraft)

On a more serious note, I would love to see the Japanese Defense Force's Blue Impulse. They do maneuvers that Air Show officials do not allow in the U.S. They do one called a Corkscrew that will blow your mind. I can't find the video I saw a few years ago, but it is radical. One jet fly's in a straight line, while another literally flies circles around it in a corkscrew pattern, and they do not do it slowly either! The video below shows only a brief clip of the maneuver starting at about 13 seconds and ending at about 15.5. It's not long enough to be able to see how cool that maneuver is if you see the planer going round and round the other one about 20 times.

Blue Impulse does quite a few maneuvers that none of our teams are allowed to do.
