Default I got the promotion

It's been a nerve racking time for me as I knew that I was up for a promotion and it has fallen through the past 3 times. Either way, I was called to a meeting today and offered not only a promotion, but a promotion to a better job than what I was expecting. The only draw back is that I will no longer be on the tools. I will have to compensate my lack of mechanical exercise at work with more woodworking at home. I start on March 5th and I'm hoping that everything goes as planned. I know how things can get screwed up.

Congrats! Make sure the we position doesn't take away time from your tutorials. We'd have to start calling in complaints to your employer!

I'm going to be the forman, which comes with a nice pay hike, a company vehicle, and a whack load of other perks, and I go from being told what to do to being the guy that designates who does what. I was a forman before for 6 months, but the shift I was governing got cancelled due to budget cuts. This one is a permanent position. I'm looking forward to the new challenges that it's going to bring.
Thanks for all of your kind words guys. I've worked hard for 16 years to get this.

Pretty much. I'm the guy they yell at when the job isn't done on time. Not to worry, I've got a really good crew of guys.

If the promotion is what you wanted, it's a good thing, and deserved. As the saying goes..."Until you are the leader of the pack...you'll always have the same view".
