Default How's Your Record?

I recently renewed my driver's license (good for 7 years) and I still carry a motorcycle certification. I got grandfathered in the early 80's before having to take a separate written and driving test (on a motorcycle). I also still have on my license "Safe Driver" (GLOAT).

It's been almost exactly 20 years since my last ticket (for speeding). Hah...they just haven't caught this leadfoot. Anyway, what's your driving record like?

No tickets since 93. I had boat operator on mine because it used to be just a matter of requesting it. Now (thankfully) they make people take at least a written test. Since the popularity of PWC's went up, the fatalities on the waterways near the ocean here went up too.

I used to get lots of tickets between the age of 17 and 22...go figure. Car insurance is insanely expensive here in Jersey so the young guns that are speeding, are also taking a shot in the wallet with insurance surcharges. The average new driver here pays at least $1700-2200 a year for car insurance. At 38 and no tickets for the last 15 years I only pay $1100 for two vehicles.

Just out of curiosity I called my agent one day to see what it would cost me to insure a new Honda CBR1000 He said around $3200 a year!...

40 y/o, had two tickets two months apart in 1990...and got one on the bike in a local speed trap in April of 2004. Oh, and I smeared a car with my fire engine in June of '05, I think it was...nothing major, no one hurt, except my pride. No ticket for that, though...still my fault.

Singin', playing a guitar, and talkin' on the phone all at the same time can lead to dangerous driving.

In my 30 years of driving I have PAIED 56 speeding tickets, had 10 more that when by by, and Argued 15 or so with a DA untill thay where droped. Lead Foot, HA HA HA not me. I only drive as fast as my mind is running. I think I might be ADD. And because I have managed to space the tickets out a bit, My insurance has never went up. NOW if Louisiana ever goes to the pionts system, I am SCREWED
I had a Sheriff Dept stop me once and the deputy (in a huff) got in my face and said " BOY do you think you own the road or something". well he stoped me on the wrong day because my reply was "As a matter of fact I do own the road, I have paid out over $13,000 in speeding tickets in my driving carrer, So yes I think I do" to that he didnt know what to do, and after running my DL, he gave it back to me and drove off. I must say that was the first time that have ever happend to me. And that isnt my normal responce to the officers that is nice enough to pull me over. I normaly thank them and tell then to have a nice day. I am not a bad guy or have problems with Officers of the law. I think they should do there job and inforce the law. I do however have a problem with the few around here who think they ARE the law. But I am still polite to them as well.

Reading your post, I hate to think you weren't joking. Paying $13,000 in tickets!!!! Didn't you learn anything? Maybe re-evaluate your driving habits unless you like paying THE MAN, not to mention that you may be a danger on the road.

ummmmmmmmm... interesting offtopic question...

Let's see...[lol] yes i'm laughing cuz it's a big rat race out there.

I think [thinking going back 20 years] my first ticket was using a SLOW Volvo and crossing the road only to hit a car going normal speed. I blame the car [it was my 1st car and I was barely starting to drive on my own]. That's 4 points...I think I got a Camaro Z28 later [insurance went thru the roof]. Few close calls for getting docked and some tickets just for speeding or not coming to a COMPLETE stop at a stop sign. One speeding ticket for passing a Mustang [yes a state trooper] that was going in the opposite way and he turned around the caught up with me. After he left the pullover I proceed to burn rubber for about 20 yards. bye bye.
One cop told me: "let's not meet again." No ticket but I wanted to tell him off after he made that statement.

Never drank and drove.

Few close calls of sleeping and driving too fast on wet surface.

I 've used up all the driving classes to remove points.

So safe to say I haven't had a ticket of any kind since prolly 10 years. My insurance is roughly $700 a year total.

also I use the bus for 1/2 of the time to work and back...

Everything is ok now.

Cabinetman thats realy not a lot of money if you brake it down. Thats less than $9.00 a week. I bet some of you out there spend more than that on cigerets or beer. I dont have any bad habits, sept driving a few miles over the speed limits. I dont drive reckless, and I have never had a ticket over 17 mph over, and that has been on the interstate. Most of them have been for 10 to 15 over. We have a lot of small towns around here that there only income is giving tickets. And most of them pad their radors, meaming they catch one guy doing 70 in a 55 and lock there. So every guy after that gets a ticket for 70 no matter what they were going. Date Line did a long story on them a few years back untill the govenor steped in and shut them down. You have to remimber I live in La, we are famous for two things, great food and croocked politics.
