Default Got an Economic Stimulus Check?

If so, what are you doing with it? New tools? Saving it? Gas? A really, really expensive chew-toy for Rover?

I'm not sure what happened to mine. I'm pretty sure its already spent, but I'm not sure what I got for it. I'm in no immediate danger of being called the World's Best Accountant, lets put it that way...

I'm doing my part to stimulate the economy, I bought a new economy car because I can't afford to drive my truck any more! I needed another car in the family anyway so I turned the truck over to my 16-year-old son (he drives less than half the miles I do)

Seems like a lot of people are using it to pay credit cards and not "stimulating" the economy at all. Personally, I didn't get one. My better half got hers and used part of it for a trip to the Bahamas we took for a friend's wedding. Only new tools I get are bought out of the "house" account because they get used on remodeling things for the house. I haven't convinced her how to add a lathe and make that a "house tool" yet, but I'm working on it.

Mine was going towards that beautiful new lathe and chisel set I need..... ok, I want..... oh wait, yes dear, of course we can get new carpet for the upstairs, I'll just get the lathe and some used tools.... oh, you want to do the staircase and the utility room floor too?... ok, I'll get a small used lathe.... what? the carpet alone is $1,000?... yes dear, of course I love you... no, I didn't have anything in mind to spend that money on, new carpet will look great! I'm glad we can finally get new carpet too... yes dear.

There's my economic stimulation! $600 stimulus check in, $2,000 flooring purchase out.... you can tell she doesn't balance the check book :o)

moneymgmt - that is the whole idea - you get a little money but purchase more than you got from Uncle Sam.

Well for me - as most of our money already goes on bills, we are going to help the economics, and this was the wife's idea - I was going to stick it all in the bank but that being said - I get 1/3 and its going to purchase that DeWalt planer (course I have to come up with a little more money for the planer), wife get her 1/3 (and only she knows what she is going to buy), the other 1/3 will go on fuel when we take our small camping trips. I guess that is spreading it around - but see - my planer will still get me to spend $150 more than I expected to.

I'm glad that you guys got your check. I however was not qualified. I owe Uncle Sam for 2007. Sold a business, was divorced the year before and did some contracting work. It all ended up A LOT more than I thought. Oh well, that's life. I'm MUCH happier (with the exception of paying spousal support) with my life and the people that are in it. I'm not complaining, I'm just glad that some people got what was coming to them from the government.

..we rec'd $1200......that, along with $2800 we already have saved, will get us a new furnace for the house..the current one was installed in 1946, and isn't too efficient. with heating oil nearing $5/gal,it should pay for itself in a couple years.
