In my shop I usually have the local soft rock station, or another one from Vancouver Island that plays older classic soft rock and some crooning tunes. The radio in my shop is cranked 24/7, mostly to give the impression there might be somebody in there. The shop is about 100 feet away from the house. I mostly like mainstream country and western, but there isn't a good local station. In my truck I often listen to country and western on CD player, with a little Santanna now and then. My favourite country western artist is [was] Hoyt Axton. I really like his tunes, cause he had a deep froggy voice that I can sing along with. My stomach, ears, bowels, and senses collectively vomit when confronted with rap, which I just can't stand.

I actually can't remember the last time I listened to the radio to tell the truth.

I mostly listen in the mornings. Jake just kills me and find it a great way to start the day.

I know this is an old post, but I can't sleep and I came upon it, so I'll put my penny in. If I'm doing quiet work, I listen to books on tape or cd. I like being read to, and our library has thousands of them. I haven't really listened to the radio or watched the tube in over 25 years, why start again now? I love music, it's always in my head, but I seldom listen to recorded music at all. I figure, if I want to hear music, I either need to play it, or go hear it live. Recorded music is, for myself, a vicarious experience. Not that I don't EVER listen to any, but.... not too often.
Some of what I like are:numerous local musicians, including my son's band; Jerry Joseph; indigo girls; Flogging Molly;peter rowan; dreadful grapes...I mean the grateful dead; some dylan; kate wolf;garcia & grisman;....

As for politics, about the only description I can ever come up with is, anti-authoritarian with anarchistic tendencies.

I'll listen to almost anything except rap, hard-core country, and "ethnic" music, which I get too much of around here (marachi "music" goes a looooonnng way for me).

Nancy that's the funniest dang I've heard all day!
