Default Diets???

Hey all, I wanted to ask if any of you out there follow any sort of specific diets? I feel like I've tried them all, and I just wanted to get some insight for you lovely folk out there and what diets have you tried in the past, and any specific ones that you found worked best for you? Personally, I found that this diet called Chef's Diet works best for me. They deliver fresh made food to my house and the portions are great for someone like me with eyes bigger than their stomach
! Hehe.. If you want to find out a bit more about Chef's Diet you can go on to http://www.mychefsdiet.com you can also check out this neat video I found with a chef named Phil Andriano talking about Chef's Diet - http://vimeo.com/5542004 Love to hear your thoughts!

My main contribution to dieting is that I do not eat anything that could eat me first.

The only diet that works well in my opinion is moderation in your intake and physical activity, walking, running, swimming; whatever you can do. Burn more calories than you take in and you will shrink, vise versa and you'll swell. Eating less sucks for awhile until your stomach shrinks a bit and you don't get hunger pains anymore. I just try to maintain an even balance, not looking to lose a bunch, but rather stay where I am and stay fit cardio-wise.

This works!

From 6:00am to 2:00pm, eat what you want.
Not a bunch of cake and ice cream, breakfast
and lunch.
From 2:01pm to 5:59am eat salads, fish, chicken,
not fried, Fruits, carrots, celery, apples, limited
amounts of cheese. Most soup is ok. Just no burgers,
fries, ice cream, cake. A cookie is ok.,, I said A cookie!

Drink water, black coffee, tea.

The main thing is to not over eat. Don't snack.
If you must have something, celery, apple, carrot.

Potatoes are bad, rice is good. Lean steaks cooked
on the grill are good. pork chops fried in grease is
bad. Lean bacon is good, if drained well.

Main thing is and I repeat. DO NOT OVER EAT!

Wife is a retired model, she never had a weight problem
but a lot of her friends did. This is the best way they
found.
She has helped me loose about seventy pounds over
the last eighteen months.

Hello,

Last year in May doctors told me I was type 2 diabete and I needed to lose some weight.

I was 205 lbs. and needed to be down to 160 lbs. I dropped the 45 lbs between May and December and it has stayed off.

-Read all labels, any snack or portion that says more than 16 mg of Carborhydrates, chuck it.
-I went to diet/caffeen free sodas/water.
-Gave up the big Carb items, process sugars, candys, donuts, cookies, the typical
-Gave up the other big Carb items, pasta, potatos, noodles, rice, breads (unless white wheat and only one slice a day)
-I loved mashed potatos, so a substitute was: boil cauliflower (pot full) and once they are real soft, mash them up, add sour cream, season and they are just like mashed pototas
-Get smaller dinner plates, so you can put less on the plate and it will look like more.
-When you do fill up the lunch/dinner plate to the your normal level, dump half of back into the skillet.
-Stop snacking unless it has less than 5 mg of Carbs and then only one snack between each meal. (These are called free carb foods.)
-My favorite desert, starwberries with whipcream. Which looks more like a huge bowl of whipcream with a few strawberries. The Redi-whip has less than 1 mg of carb, so you can pile it on big time.
In less than six months I dropped 45 lbs without walking/exercise/working out.
-Once a month I treat myself to a McDonalds Quarter pounder with cheese, I don't eat the bun and only eat a half a bag of small fries.

The key is to try not to eat more than 30-35mg of carborhydrates per meal, three meals, with a less than 5 mg snack between meals, and that did it for me.

Cheese, nuts, meat are low carb foods.

Where folks seem to mess up on the diet is when someone says (or you say to yourself) "Wow, you lost so much weight, just one donut, one big meal is not going to hurt you, but it does, because you start to cheat, a little here and little there, you start gaining weight back and you get frustrated and give up.

Good luck.

Rob

Potatoes are good, especially french fries. Or a baked potato just loaded with bacon bits, cheese and butter.

Lean steaks are tasteless.

Fried or grilled chops are good if sufficient seasoning of the correct type is used.

Lean bacon is just like lean steak.

Default This time last year I weighed 350+ The Krispy Kream Diet

worked for me my last trip to the Dr I weigh 285. I have gained 4 pound back.

Yes it really works. 1st find a dood non calorie sback. I am lucky I deary love SOUR dill pickles.
Not Kosher. They are hard to find but the Kroger brand suits me as long as they put Kosher in the dill jar like they did last week. Eat what you want just don't go stupid I have had 3 pickles already today. It works. Now for the KK part you get a donut for every 5 pounds you use. Now I have one little problem I have arthritis real bad. When I take my drugs to hold the pain back and makes me more mobil I .t does work....

I don't know BHOFM. Without seeing some physical evidence I am inclined not to believe you. Maybe some pictures of your wife or her friends will sway me toward you diet. I need some empirical data to be able to effectively change my mindset and adopt your plan.

Not the type of diet you are talking, but my step-son was just diagnosed with Siliac's Disease. No gluten for the rest of his life.
Gluten it the protein found in wheats...bet you can't even wrap your head around what he can't have. We have to be careful which restaurants we go to, read labels on EVERYTHING he eats. If we have something with gluten in it, we have to be careful of cross contamination.

Meetre,

At least Celiac disease is becoming more recognized, so now in some stores if there is an organic foods section, there is sometimes a gluten free section. with gluten free breads crackers, pasta and more. They use a rice flour instead of a wheat flour. Gluten is found in wheat, rye, barley, oats, and spelt. Although depending on how Oats are processed, some people with Celiac can eat them.

While I am genetically lucky enough not to worry about my weight, I know from lots of experience diets don't work. The only thing that will take weight off, or keep you at your current weight, is moderation of your current dietary intake and light exercise. By light exercise I mean walking up stairs instead of taking elevators or escalators, I mean going for a walk after your evening meal, etc. It doesn't mean spending 3 hours a day (or even a week) lifting weights and sweating in a gym. (That will help if you have a lot to lose, but isn't necessary to help you maintain your ideal.)

One good rule is to not eat anything after about 8pm. This really helps people burn more off because instead of storing your evening meal calories while you sleep, you're burning calories while you sleep. I have a friend that last some 30 pounds just by doing this and not changing any other habits.

As for what foods to eat or not eat, that's all bunk and is very specific to an individual so asking someone else will give you ideas, but not necessarily the right solution for you. I can't survive with less than 60% of my intake being carbohydrates. My twin sister and my mother, on the other hand, both do much better with far fewer carbs and more proteins. Eat what you like, just in smaller or more moderate portions (Americans are particularly bad at eating ridiculously large portions) and start a regular regemine of walking, cycling, jogging, whatever you like, as a light exercise.

Here is an interesting DIET

If I had a sign on my refrigerator door it would be the reverse of MACEM'S. I like to eat and have to do a lot of exercise to keep anywhere close to a reasonable weight.

at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how effective the diet is, it has to be something you can live with and maintain - that's the best advice i was ever given.
