Default 113 degree heat index

Man that is not good for Illinois. I just came in and checked the weather, 94 and feels like 113 at 5:30 PM . I know some of you southerners will say "Why 94, that ain't hot"...but we are still in June it'll be 100+ before long (the ten day forecast say 9 more days like today, right in a row ) You gotta take into account 4 months ago it was -10 with a windchill of -35...that there is a almost 150 degree "feels like" temp swing. Why do I live in Illinois again...oh yea, the nice weather

I hate the heat. Right now we are doing the on/off rain thing with temps in the high 60's. You can keep those temps.

Default Don't worry it's a Global Warning

and the government will save us from it. It's not the heat it's the humidity, like they say out west 113 dry degrees vs 95 degrees and 80% humidity. That's why I live in Michigan, the nice weather, right? Wonder how hot it is in Texas...TT will let us know. bill

My sawmill doesn't have a/c...but I do have a fan and an umbrella ...still almost stroked out though, I don't like the heat.

AC - Who the hell has AC in the shop? I have a couple of those spinny things... I think they call them fans.

Today is 98 deg here, but it’s a dry heat. It will not be long before we will actually have 113 deg temps. We get a break at night because the temp drops 30 to 40 deg..
Big concrete driveways like what I got absorb heat all day long and then radiates heat at night. Last night I had to close the garage doors at 5 PM because the radiated heat was heating the place up too much. I planted trees on each side of the drive way to help shade, but the couple of hours during noon are enough to heat it up. I used to hose it down to cool it off but that’s against the law now with a hefty fine if caught.

Monday it reached 104 degrees (actual temp, not index), and that's on my digital indoor/outdoor thermometer possibly designed by a college graduate. So far this week, temperatures have reached a new record high set 56 years ago. Humidity 90-95%. Global warming...what's that?

The news said 99 today but my thermometer said 102 plus humidity like 112 or so. I noticed my neighbor and his dumb a** has a bunch of hoses on his roof to help cool his house to 62. The A/C would cool better if he would clean the condenser and his filter. I can't water my plants because of all the people watering there gardens it cuts the water pressure. Now I got him watering his house.

Default Hot in Tulsa Area

We had our first 100 degree day of the year yesterday in the Tulsa area. The first time the temp reached 100 in June since 1994. 100 degrees wouldn't be so bad if the humidity wasn't about 9,000000000 %. My boss is flying out to Phoenix today, where the temp will probably be around 108. I know what your thinking, "but it's a dry heat." So is the heat in my oven that I use to bake a chicken.

I didn’t know that it got that hot there. I was looking for a place in the Tulsa area to retire and you say its also humid. Oh boy, maybe I’ll have to rethink this and retire in Arizona, at least it dry and I can set in front of my swamp cooler.

Same out here on the prairie. Hot and humid. We are getting our first big boomers of the year rolling through, which is unheard of not having a good storm until late June. It went from wonderfully cool weather, one of the coolest June's on record, to this sticky unbearable heat with no wind! At least we are getting some rain finally. I thought I was going to be done mowing at 3 times for awhile there.

We got a break yesterday. Went from hitting record highs (around 100) each day to not breaking 90 yesterday.

Sorry to dissapoint you Johnny. Tulsa's not a bad place but it has it's moments of heat and humidity. We're having one of those moments now, and a little earlier than normal, this year. Tulsa and Texas are currently stuck beneath a large stationary high pressure area and we're getting a lot of heat and humidity out of Texas (sorry, Texas Timbers). In Tulsa, we usually have a good breeze out of the south much of the year (out of the north the remainder of the year). And, with regard to your idea of retiring in Arizona - do they have wood there?

I've never heard of someone doing that before. Seems like an awful waste of water. Maybe he's trying to grow a new addition?

First of all, I live in AZ and right now it's 72 deg. outside. Course, we're at 6000+ ft.
I grew up in IL, a little south of Daren. I can sympathize ol' buddy!

Secondly, the answer to your question is NO! It's all imported from somewhere else. Well, except for some Mesquite.

Last year I was looking at buying some property east of Kingman, AZ and when I viewed it in Google Earth it looked like a moon shot, nothing but rocks and dirt. I wonder how hot it is there.

Johnny, those aerial shots didn't lie. And, that area is right up there with the other hot spots in AZ.
Hot, boring and ugly. You're lucky you chose not to participate.

When I lived in Phoenix, we had a saying... "It isn't a nice day unless the temperature gets to 100°."

Most of the time I was working second trick and frequently would mow the lawn before the shower to go to work. Up to 112° or 113° wasn't all that bad but at somewhere above 115° it started to get hot. It's all relative...

I helped an old friend move to Scottsdale, AZ because of his health problems and I remember that it was the first time I ever saw an air conditioned garage. Now that I have a swamp cooler in my garage, it doesn’t seen so odd.
