Default Sofa Table ... Mahogany Top

Just finished my latest project, a sofa table. I have been wanting to build one for some time, but couldn't design or find an acceptable plans.
I saw this table in Fine Woodworking reader's gallery. Just one 3" x 4" photo. I built a cardboard and scrap wood model which let me putz with it till I got the right proportions.
The top was a lucky find at my wood supplier. The mahogany crotch board was mixed in with the straight grained boards in the stack.
The base is ash dyed with black Transtint. Next time I'll spring for the Wang.....dying sucks.
Finish is wiped on Waterlox....great stuff.

Me too. I have used it for years, but I bought a new can for this table. Instead of the flat side qt can, it came in a round can. This time it had a strong unpleasant smell and seemed slipery/oily/slick somehow.
The results were better than ever, so maybe improvements were made.
