Default Pebble Beach #7 Intarsia

Well after many trials and tribulations I finally finished my rendition of Pebble Beach# 7 for my son who lives in San Diego. We will be visiting him next week and he has no idea that I made this for him.
The frame is 11" x16" oval made from Peruvian walnut. Intarsia woods; bushes and water--blue mahoe; Sand traps and crashing waves--holly; rocks--zericote; green--palo santos; grass--poplar; sky and sails on large boat--tulipwood; flag and sails on small boat--pau amerillo; mountains--purpleheart. 68 pieces. This was a challenging project.

Man, that is a great looking project. I assume it is all cut on a scroll saw? Did you mount it on a thin piece of backing before you put it in the frame?

Awesome looking though!!!

Thanks guys

To Fred-- Yes it was all done on the scrollsaw. As far as the way it is mounted in the frame I use the cut and drop method which is done by setting the angle of cut at 2 degrees and cutting the inside of the oval which allows the center section to drop enough to create the recess for the inlay. After it is glued in place I run it through the planer to remove the excess material from the back to make it flush.
