Default A little redheart and curly maple cross

Here is a little redheart for those that have been wondering what it looks like. I glued some 1/2" thick strips to either side of some 3/8" thick curly maple for a 3D texture. The dimensions are 12" tall and 7.5" wide, and it is finished with 2 coats of wipe on poly. I needed to make a small gift for my niece's first communion and this wood was in the cut off pile begging to be put together. It is my first cross and came out a little chunky.

I really like that. How did you cut the ends?

I cut the redheart before glue up at 45 on a miter saw and used a handsaw to carefully cut the notch in the maple using the precut angle in the redheart as a saw guide after glue up.

I was thinking maybe run on edge through a table saw at 45 degrees, flip, and run through again.
