Default First Band Saw Box

I thought I'd share my first attempt at a band saw box. You can really tell that it was my very first try by the saw marks left on it. Oh well...I'm marking them up to character .

And, just for fun a pic of the box with the beast that helped create it.

Any suggestions on what I could have done differently would be great.

The wood isn't anything special. Just some scrap I had laying around the shop...not even sure what it was. I think pine or spruce maybe? I didn't want to use anything nice since it was my first try and I was just kind of playing around to see what I could do. Once it was finished though I decided to stain it with some red mohogany and paste wax.

I can say I've fallen in love with making band saw boxes. I've already planned out 3 or 4 more to do once I get a couple days off again. It was a lot of fun to make, I was able to finish it in a couple hours, and it used up scrap! All good things in my book =).

I have wanted to try one of these for quite some time now but just haven't had the time (renovating my basement)
You've done a great job. Keep it up.

It looks good! I haven't done many, but I remember when I cut my first bandsaw box the table was tilted slightly and I couldn't get everything back together just right. Your first turned out better than mine.

Nice job Lucas! I haven't made a band saw box yet. Really looks like a fun project though! Do they go together pretty fast? Is your band saw a Grizzly?

Not sure if you mean me or Lucas as we are both from central il. I am about 20 min north of Springfield. I have a brother in law just moved from Flagstaff down to Phoenix. Visited 2 years ago when he was in Flag. Just love it up there. Very pretty!

That looks really nice. I would like to try that sooner than later. How did you learn, self-education or did you have a teacher?
