Firewood - Woodworking Talk

Found this in the neighbor's firewood pile.

"Wild" walnut seems so much more colorful than the stuff that I bought at the hardwood store.

Great job. Love the colour of the wood. It just goes to show you that one mans burn pile is another mans treasure. Great find on your part.

That is BEAUTIFUL!!! Nothing wrong with that. Most of the wood I use is considered to be firewood by most.

Thanks Bud, I used my usual two coats of lacquer then friction polish. For some reason, it ended up splotchy, so I sanded back a bit and sprayed it with a gloss spar urethane. The spar really is glossy, dries smooth and is tough as nails. It just takes a long time to dry, so I don't use it much.
