Default Any bowyers in the house?

Just thought I would share my most recent project.

My buddy Brad and I have been hunting together since about 1980. He has always been a gadget master! I am easing him into traditional archery. I made him a bamboo backed ipe bow last year that blew up recently. He decided it was time for a new bow. We put our heads together to find the perfect wood combos. The results are stunning, to me at least! :) She has a wenge and bubinga riser, action-boo cores, and bubinga limb faces. I used buffalo horn for the overlays. She is 62" nock to nock, and draws 45@28. The arrow shelf is cut to center, and is a really good shooter.

I was having the worst trouble filling the wood pores on the wenge. I finally figured it out! Bunches of thin CA. I coated the riser with thin CA (Super Glue). As it dried the unfilled pores were very visible. I applied more to the visible pores, and let it dry again. It took about 5 coats or so. Once it looked pretty level I sanded it down. A little touch up, and it was good to go!

Apex,
Nice job on the bow. Looks almost to pretty to take out in the woods. Nice choice on the different woods.

Man that is nice. I agree with it being said almost too nice to hunt with! That could hang on the wall as art.
