Default what would you do to rip fence?

I have an older 10" belt driven craftsman table saw(14 years old). The rip fence drives me crazy as it never locks parallel to the blade no matter how I adjust it. Is is possible to change the rip fence to something better? If so what will fit.
Is it worth the trouble and cost. The saw works well and is in good condition.

Thanks

I think that just about any after market fence will work you'll just have to drill a few holes to mount it. Shop Fox makes one.

there are many aftermarket fences out there. Google will find em all and have your saw model number to check for compatibility.
As to worth it or not that is a personal matter. One BIG thing to remember is that alot of Sears stuff is non standard. Many aftermarket items besides fences will not work.

Adding a "T" square type fence would be a major improvement. Some brands to look at:

Biesemeyer
Unifence
HTC
Shop Fox
Jet
Incra

I have a Beismeyer knockoff on my 10 inch TS, and it is totally satisfactory. My old nine inch Beaver ts has a piece of crap fence on it that makes me crazy, so I know the feeling.

The Delta T2 for ~ $150 is one of the better deals for a new fence IMO. Vega, Biese, SF Classic, Unifence are other very good fences for more money.

thanks for suggestions. the delta fence looks like a good deal. Are these fences difficult to install on craftsman saws. I don't imagine they were made for them.

Not difficult at all. you'll probably have to drill some holes in the mounting bracket but it's no problem. the delta fence is excellent, especially for $150. I put one on a HF table saw, it cuts so nice now the wood comes off the table looking like it was run through a jointer, not even a hint of kerf marks.
