I have a crapsman 10" bench top TS and just finished a project. At the beginning of the project my blade was perfectly aligned. But as towards the end of the project I could tell it was getting out of line. Well here's the weird deal:

With the blade raised all the way, the blade is perfectly aligned with a the miter slots. As the blade lowers, with only an 1 1/2" of the blade above the table, the back of the saw blades moves left. So there is an 1/8" difference between the front of the blade and the rear of the blade.

I've reviewed the alignment instructions, and the instructions says to raise the blade all the way to begin alignment - and in that position it is aligned. I've tried cleaning the saw, and getting all sawdust out of the turning sprockets and such. The blade is 90 degrees from the table while doing this...

Has anyone experienced this, or offer any advice? I greatly appreciate your help.

If this is a new saw take it back. It sounds like the raising mechanism is what is bad and I don't believe that would be adjustable. As the blade lowers the mechanism is falling out of true.

As long as it is "Craftsman" tell Sears you will enjoy the new one they are about to give you :}:} The saw is bad, most likely something bent, take model number and serial number to Sears hunt a manager down tell him problem, they will either fix it free or go with him to pick your new one out.

Thanks guys. I will try bringing in the model and serial number to the store. There is one close by. I really doubt they'll do anything as I received the saw as a gift about 8 years ago, but I'll try it.

Doesn't matter. You shouldn't need a receipt. I've never been asked for one when anything I've brought back said Craftsman on it. Of course, there were things that just went in the trash because the replacement wasn't worth the trip to the store. From what I see, the Craftsman Pro Line is re-badged name brand products that probably won't go back any quicker than their brightly colored parents. If it's the homeowner grade, you'll be just as disappointed as any brightly colored homeowner grade tool user. It'll work, but you will never be happy with it. Opinionated at times, aren't I?

would like to know if you are turning the blade, or are you measuring from two points on blade. if not turning blade, you may have a bent lade. measure the same tooth.
