Default Shop Fox Band Saw

I have been considering a band saw and was set to buy a Grizzly 0555. Then, I found a used Shop Fox W1706. It is in good shape and not used much. He is asking $425. Seems a little high, but is good as new according to the seller. I will definitely have to look at it before I can agree or disagree.

Does anyone have this bandsaw and can give any advice?

After discussing this saw with the LOML, she said not to buy it used. For the difference, buy it new and you know that no one (else) done something to damage it. Besides, you get a two year warranty buying it new. Go ahead and buy it After I picked my jaw up off the floor, there was no further hesitation. I got on the internet and found the best deal I could.

I ended up purchasing the ShopFox W1706 and a 6 inch riser block kit for $621 with free shipping. The only catch was the shipment had to be business to business, so I had it shipped to the paper mill where I work. It was purchased from Bibb Tool and Cutter.

I had reread the Wood Magazine September 2008 bandsaw review. There are few differences in the saw compared to the Grizzly 0555 which was their top choice. My uncle has the Grizzly and really likes it. I just think the Shop Fox has a few small features that are nicer such as the cast iron wheels.
