Default Setting up a shop Need tools

I'm getting back in to wood working and a little cramped for space
Around $1,300.00 + - for all three

I need a good general purpose table saw (Portable I think) For rough cutting to building Kit. Cabinets.

A band saw

A planer: for rough cut oak but to a smooth finish

What would you get or suggest ?

As for table saw if you're going new. I'd go with the Delta Contractors saw. They're clearancing them @ Lowe's for $399 plus $130 for the T2 fence. In my opinion I wouldn't own another contractors saw not due to the price, but especially considering the price.

Or you really want to stretch the budget buy a good used old craftsman from craigslist.

Some members may want to karate kick me here, but Harbor Freight has a decent affordable band saw. I don't own it, but have read good reviews. Also check Grizzly.

Or again craigslist...

With the planer I'm interested in the Jointer/Planer combo that Jet has for under 500 bucks...Most other planers alone cost 500 bucks..Unless you buy the Ryobi for 199 with no outfeed tables or cutterhead lock...

Or broken record...starts with a C ends with a raigslist....

Just my 2 cents and as honest of an opinion as an Irishman can have...

Good luck!

If there's any way for you to accommodate a full size stationary table saw instead of a portable, I'd do it. The stationary saws have all the advantages aside from portability. Some of the better bargains right now are the Delta that's been mentioned, the Ridgid 3660 for $400 if you can find one, and the new Ridgid R4511 hybrid for $600 (takes up less space than the Delta or 3660 but has a full size table.

I'd get a portable planer that has some method of preventing the cutterhead from moving and causing snipe....~ $350-$600. DeWalt DW734 or DW735, Delta TP400 or 22-580, Ridgid 4330, Makita 2012, or possibly the Steel City portable.

I guess I'd get a jigsaw with the balance of funds and start saving for a decent bandsaw.
