Another question about the configuration of my new saw. What are the pros/cons of having a riving knife on the saw? Will it really reduce the likelihood of kickbacks? Are riving knives available as an aftermarket add on? Right now, I'm thinking of buying a Grizzley 1023, but some of my reading indicates a riving knife to be desirable, and my Grizzley catalog doesn't indicate the saw comes with one. Thanks for your help.

Nope, the 1023 will not have a riving knife. I think Grizzly only offers the one contractor model (GO661) and the one cabinet saw (GO651) with the riving knife.
There are thousands of us who have the 1023 and have no problem using the saw without the riving knife. But, don't get me wrong, I'd like to have one on mine!
Suz, is correct. Grizzly only offers the riving knife on a couple models, and apparently they don't have any plans to add it to the 1023 line any time soon :(
i called and talked to a rep a couple weeks ago. aside from the contractor saw, it's on the 6051 & 6052.
