Default Reconditioned Hitachi C12FDH CMS

Hey gang, love the forum!

My reconditioned C12FDH was just delivered today. It is NOT in the condition I expected though. Cosmetically it's not grade 'A'. No big deal I can deal with that.

What I'm more concerned with is it's accuracy. The indent for the miter is set at 1 degree not 0 degrees and the indent has about 1/2 degree of play in it. I did a couple test cuts on it and it is approx. 1-1.5 degrees off. Which means over a 7" cut it's out about 1/8".

I couldn't find any accuracy specs on it so I thought I'd ask what you guys thought. Is this normal and acceptable? Or should I ask for an RMA?

Regards,
Chuck

I would ask for an RMA. I know there is a cure for it, and maybe someone here will be able to come up with one. Maybe if you google Hitachi C12FDH you can find one as well.

Chuck,
Most every saw I have ever had or seen has adjustments to take care of what you are talking about. Most pointers can be loosened to read accurately. The fences normally are adjustable to get things back to square. Look your saw over and see if you can adjust it back to where it should be. This should be done periodically on any saw that gets transported around and is liable to get knocked out of adjustment. Even stationary tools need to be checked now and then for accuracy. Good rainy day or cold weather stuff to do. If you can't seem to adjust it, then by all means send it back.

Thanks guys.

I tried adjusting the fence to bring it in, but there is NO way to move it that far without machining the fence. I can lock it into place manually without using the indents, but then the indents are useless. I'll try to adjust it more this weekend. If I can't get it in spec, I'll ask for an RMA.

Regards,
Chuck
