I am an installer for a car audio shop and I build all the speaker enclosures. Many of these enclosures are pretty large (5cuft++) and I am getting tired of my old table saw.
I have been looking into building a panel saw and mounting up a circular saw w/ a lazer.
Are there any good plans and sets of tracks out there for a reasonable price?
I'm not sure, but I think it is just the metal parts (carriage for the saw) and a plan for the jig. Have any of you built or seen this one?
Can it be a nice accurate saw?
If I were using it a lot, say a couple times a day, I think I would buy one. Even a used one. They certainly are nicer than hauling sheet good up to a table. A LOT less work. Do they cut as nicely as a table saw? Well a table saw can be fitted with zero clearance throats etc, and is a bit more massive. On the other hand, the wood stays still in the panel saw and the saw moves on rails, it is true that the cuts are usually pretty darn straight. If you are working at this pretty much full time, I think that you should research panel saws and get one that will do the job for you. Even if you use the table saw a lot still, the panel saw will save your back and make a lot of cuts simpler, saving you time. I don't use sheet goods as much as you do, but I still cut whole sheets of ply once a week, and when it is 3/4 stock, it is a pain. It got much better when I got a full sized sliding table on one of my cabinet saws, but if I were doing much more, I'd get a panel saw. I think some of the kits are not bad. Perhaps someone here has experience with them, but I KNOW that some of the ready made ones are great.

I have thar same kit your looking at. It was $125.00,10 years ago when I bought it. I'm on my third saw now, It's a little fussy to get lined up, but after that it works great. I uaually cut parts a little oversize and finish cut on the table saw. Also for storage the wings can be reversed from side to side and laid in the track and the back folds up and can be pushed up against the wall. a rough guess a 125.00 to 150.00 for 2x4's, 3/4 ply, emt conduit, and casters should put you in bussiness.
Audible; also check out Jessem Mast-R-slider attachment. Just rip sheets into blank pcs and the this attachment make life sooooooooo wonderful, I have it and just luv it.
What kind of table saw do you have? Is it a cabinet saw. If it is. Take a look at the Axaktor sliding table attachment, I used it on my Delta saw works great you can cross cut up to 5', now sits in the corner collecting dust, I just got my 10' slider.
