Default Delta 10" Unisaw

I recently inherited my fathers Delta 10" Unisaw that was bought new in 1999. It has a left tilt and all the bells and whistles. It has a frame work with rollers on it and can be rolled around the garage. This saw did not come out of a commercial shop and has not had the guts run out of it. What advise could you give as far as selling it. My dad would be interested in making sure a true woodworker that loved it would end up with it. I'm all thumbs and its just not my thing. Thanks in advance for your emails.... jmttjb@yahoo.com Tom

Hi Rhino - Pricing depends on several things...condition, fence, extras, the current economy, etc. A pic would help, but I'd think that $750-$900 would be a fair price that'd move it reasonably quickly. It's not a gouge, nor a give away.

Craigslist should get you some local responses, then you pick a good home for it. (You're gonna need a pic for the listing anyway....so...)

Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up on selling my fathers saw. Its in really good shape and your right I need to take some pictures. I'm a bit leary of using Craigs List with all the bad press lately. I guess I will just press on and figure out if I should run a news paper ad or what. Thanks for sure for your help. Tom jmttjb@yahoo.com

Craigslist is fine if you make it know that its cash and carry, not cashiers check, or money order.

Rhino,
Where are you located, what state? Just curious. You might check with any local woodworking clubs. That's usually a good concentration of woodworkers who are always looking for good tools at a fair price.

Lots of us watch (me) Craigslist daily looking for stuff.

The bad press was about their Adult section. How can you go wrong if someone pays you cash?

I've never had issue with Craigslist....it's just people. Lots of people use it and it's cheaper than Ebay. Putting it in the free classifieds on wwing forums is an option, and I like the idea of contacting a wwing club too.

My first suggestion would be a woodworkers club or guild. Our local guild posts equipment for sale pretty frequently. It helps both parties because the seller knows that the buyers are from a pretty select group. And in your specific case, the buyer would almost certainly be a dedicated woodworker. And the buyer has or at least feels that the equipment is as advertised.

That said, I have also bought equipment from Craigslist that I was happy with.

Hope this helps
