Raskgle,
I don't know how much new batteries for a 12 volt cost, but sometimes it is cheaper to get a whole new kit. I bought two new 18 volt dewalt drills at home depot the day after thanksgiving for 99.00 each. Each one came with a charger and two batteries. Two new 18 volt batteries are 119.00 when you catch them on sale, 139.00 normal price. See what I mean?

I agree with Mike. It is kind of rediculous what you can buy a new tool for as apposed to purchasing replacement batteries. Much cheaper to purchase the new tool.

Some battery shops will rebuild your old batteries. Some claim that they are better than new. Might check it out if there are any in your area.

Same situation with printers, apparently, a replacement printer head for a Canon inkjet is more expensive than a new printer.

Raskgle,
Update on the battery dilemna. I needed to get two more 18v batteries for my ryobi tools. So I stop in at the local Home Depot. They went up to 59.95 for a two pack. The last pair I bought last fall were 46.95 for the pair. So I go to the end of the aisle and they had an 18v impact driver with two batteries, a charger, and a nice nylon square shaped case to carry it all in. Also came with an adaptor for using 3/8" sockets and a phillips bit, all for 99.00. So I bought it. I already have one of these impacts. It is such a nice tool I don't mind having another. I will leave one in the truck and one in the shop.

Have to agree with Mike about looking for a new set as you can very often get a great combo deal especially on Black Friday. I just saw a Hitachi drill driver / charger and two 12 volt batteries marked down from 139 to 59 dollars last week. In the box. Making room for the new model. Can you believe that????????????!!!!!

Yep, I go with Mike's advice. Cheaper to buy a whole new kit than to replace the batteries.
