Default Band Saw Blade

I had to change my band saw blade today. (3/4" down to 1/4") Not a big deal.

EXCEPT

How do I coil the blade was removed? Well I got the gloves out and tried twisting this way and that way.

Finally I did something just a neighbor walked up and the blade was coiled nicely. Neighbor says, "Wow! How did you do that? I need to do that too." I looked at him with one of those "Cat that ate the canary look" and truthfully said, "I don't have a clue."

I guess I'll figure it out next time that I change the blade.

Default Like this:

Step on the blade flat on the floor while holding a "reverse" grip at the top,
elbow high, fingertips away from your body.
Push down while straighting out your grip. It will form 3 circular layers.
You might need a cold one to assist. bill
BTW Go to the woodworker's store look at a blade that's coiled, pretending to buy it. Let it uncoil and the trained sales person will show you how to coil it.....

Default Coiling a bandsaw blade

Just Google "coiling a bandsaw blade"
There are a few videos on how to do it.

Here are a couple:
YouTube - Coiling a Band Saw Blade

YouTube - How to fold a bandsaw blade

It's how I finally figured it out. Now it's second nature.
